PROGRAM AREAS

JOB READINESS AND PERSONAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Gaining and maintaining quality employment has been consistently at the top of the list of concerns expressed by those who are impacted by poverty and discrimination. Through partnerships with major organizations, we are able to provide workshops and training opportunities that will not only make participants more employable, but also help to increase retention once employed.

YOUTH ADVOCACY AND CIVIL RIGHTS

The Urban Mosaic Center for Social Justice is involved in civil rights and social justice efforts nationwide. We are currently engaged in the planning and organizational efforts of several key campaigns.  Young men of color are at risk and all parties must be held accountable to address the impact of the school to prison pipeline in our communities.

EMPOWERMENT THROUGH INQUIRY- (Inquiry Groups)

Inquiry is a research-based methodology that allows participants to take a critically reflective stance through questioning to challenge positioning and ways of thinking in order to construct new knowledge.  Inquiry requires engaging with others and with oneself in a space to be wrong safely and to experiment issues in a group context.  Inquiry is based on the idea that we understand differently and give different meaning to similar experiences.
